Secca delle Ancore (Anchor Shoals)
depth: -10 to -30 mt
difficulty: easy to intermediate
currents: not likely
type: granitic rocks, Posidonia, sand, old anchors
Not a typical dive site nearby the Isola del Fico and very similar environment as the Elefante but with smaller rocks. It is covered with photophilic algae. Many nudibranches are widespread on the hydrozoans. We dive down the submerged mooring (no buoy here) and we find a very large flat rock with some crevices full of life and we cross a large sand bed where we find an old and large anchor. If we do not use much air we can also search for another similar anchor a bit hidden in the Posidonia bed. It is common to see big shoals of Salema porgies (Sarpa salpa) and some jack fish that populate the bank especially in September/October. The main bank is surrounded by many large rocks giving the opportunity to choose among various routes. As we slowly ascend to the boat on the rope and being careful not too hold the rope until the last 6 meters (to protect much life that grows on it!), we search for such curious life as tiny crustaceans, nudibranches
Secca dell'Elefante (Elephant Rock)
depth: -12 to -35 mt
difficulty: intermediate
currents: none usually
type: granitic rocks, Posidonia, large hideouts
Big granite structure not very far from Isolotto del Fico, in the north-west of Molara island. It is covered with photophilic algae. This shoal is named after a peculiar large rock shaped as an elephant head at a depth of about -25m. Underneath the rocks you can see some colorful yellow sponges (Verongia aerophoba) and nudibranches widespread on the hydrozoans. Nearby there is an old and large anchor of the 19th century. It is common to see curious and large groupers in their favorite crevice. Big shoals of Salema porgies (Sarpa salpa) and some pelagic fish populate the bank. At greater depths, the big boulders offer shelter to eels, sea fans, scorpion fish. The main bank is surrounded by many large rocks giving the opportunity to choose among various routes. A torch is recommended.
Isolotto Rosso (Reulino Island)
depth: -5 to -20 mt
difficulty: easy
currents: none but with southeast wind best visibility is lost
type: rocks, Posidonia, sand
asy dive protected by the common north-west winds. The limited depth and the variety of the surrounding habitats, boulders, sandy areas, and Posidonia seabed make this site particularly rich in biodiversity and many different species can be found. The rock are of a reddish colour and many pieces of broken amphora lay on the bottom. Large groups of barracudas are quite often swimming here! This site is particularly suitable for night diving offering the opportunity to see the beautiful Alicia Mirabilis.
La Mandria
depth: -35 to -45mt
difficulty: only for deep divers
currents: none usually
type: large rocks surrounded by sand with gorgonians
Fascinating dive not available to all divers due to the depth and its positioning between Tavolara and Molara where waves may be of disturbance to find a large mooring that raises from -45m to about -8mt. This dive is recommended only with NITROX at about 30% optimal mix to enjoy a reasonable recreational dive time. We proceed down a large cable now covered by lots of little organisms to a huge rock cut in four pieces and full of gorgonians. Around these particular scenario some rocks and lots of sand. Surprises are often found here but this place is home to some large forkbeard fish, conger eel, groupers, ,different species of crabs and crustaceans in the fissures, amber-jacks. The slow ascent is very interesting especially with calm seas to sharpen our eyes and look for colourful flat worms, nudibranch, and the cool walking crustacean, the “Caprella” a Mediterranean skeleton shrimp.
 Relitto Chrisso (Chrisso Wreck)
depth: 0 to -8 mt
difficulty: easy
currents: none usually but not recommended with strong winds
type: wreck, Posidonia, sand, rocks
Ship wreck of the "Chrisso", a Cypriot freighter stranded on the reefs next to "Punta La Greca" on the night of Dec. 31 1974. Part of the ship (originally broken in two parts) still emerges. The bow lays on a sandy bottom (at a depth of about 7m), while the stern lays on its port on some rocks (at a depth of about -4m). It decays year by year with little surfacing of this 90 mt cargo. The site is fantastic for both fun and for photographers since the scenery is bright and colourful during calm seas and for divers that love nudibranches this is heaven! Not recommended for people that like depths (!) since this site hardly reaches -9mt (at the stern). For its history and more details we recommend the link of the Park http://www.amptavolara.com/en/territory/submerged-landscapes/wrecks/chrisso/. Given its shallow depth dive time is often over an hour long! There is a huge variety of organisms to see and often amberjack fish or barracudas swimming around.
